Liz Garnett
Liz has been a travel photographer for over 30 years and is also a writer and North Downs Way Ambassador. She is based near Ashford in Kent. Her art photography encompasses all formats of photography and film and her work has been exhibited and sold internationally. Her travel images have been sold to magazines, books and the travel trade. Since the first lockdown, Liz spent the pandemic working on a series of walking books on Kent and since then has gone on to follow a long distance footpath in France.

Liz was first drawn to pilgrimages when she discovered the Tro Briez pilgrimage which takes in the sites of the seven founding saints of Brittany in France. For Liz, the Augustine Camino was an opportunity to follow a pilgrimage route on foot and discover more parts of Kent. It is not about the completion of the journey, but a chance to spend time viewing the landscape, seeing nature and the companionship of the journey.

For the Augustine Camino project Liz created images using digital photography. Liz has been drawn to the abstract nature of the landscape as it changes along the Augustine Camino. She has been exploring the use of colour and experimenting with her digital images to create striking images which require the viewer to stop and take a closer look. She has also produced a video of some of her images on YouTube.

For The Way of Saint Martin pilgrimage Liz has created a guidebook for the route and has been seeking inspiration from the route and it's history for her creative images.
