The Way of Saint Martin Pilgrimage
Following the success of their first pilgrimage and a pilgrimage seminar the germ of an idea to create a new pilgrimage route and exhibition began to develop. Liz Garnett and Alexandra le Rossignol came away from a meeting at the Maison Dieu in Dover with a plan to focus on a new pilgrimage route - that of the one from Dover to Canterbury. The aim was to have enough work for an exhibition as part of the Dover Pilgrimage Festival in 2022. The group will go on to exhibit work from this pilgrimage in an exhibition as part of Canterbury Festival 2023.
This time the project was to develop a new route taking in the North Downs Way / Via Francigena and add in detours to destinations that inspired artists and writers. The route now has it's own website with links to a gpx file so pilgrims can follow in the footsteps of the Creative Pilgrims. Alex and Liz have created a YouTube video talking about how they developed the route.
Participating creatives covered the fields of art, photography, ceramics, mixed media, poetry, glass and iconography. The group will go on to have further exhibition and talks.
